US, Vietnam to hold annual Agent Orange/Dioxin dialogue

The fourth annual meeting of the Joint Advisory Committee (JAC) on Agent Orange/ Dioxin will be held in Hanoi September 8-10, the US Embassy and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment announced Wednesday.
The JAC, a bilateral forum for scientific dialogue on Agent Orange/dioxin, aims to improve cooperation on understanding and redressing its health and environmental effects.
Earlier this year the US Congress appropriated US$3 million for dioxin mitigation and health activities, which will be used to support ongoing remediation projects in Da Nang.
The US members represented in the JAC include officials from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US Agency for International Development and the Departments of Defense, State, Health and Human Resources.
