Vietnam- EU trade forum: strengthening competitiveness

On Jan 13th, 2009, at Sofitel Plaza hotel, Hanoi, EuroCham in Vietnam held “Vietnam- Euro trade forum: strengthening competitiveness”. The forum aims at sharing experience, assessing prospects of Vietnam and EU in the relationship between the two sides and creating favorable conditions for conversation to increase Vietnam’s competitiveness in the regional situation.Delivering speeches at the forum were Dr Le Danh Vinh, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Nguyen Chi Tam, Director General of European Market Department, Mr. Antonio Berenguer, Trade Counselor of European Commission Delegation to Vietnam, Mr. Alain Cany, Chairman of EuroCham, and Mr. Bach Van Mung, Director General of Competition Administration Department and representatives from international and local associations of trade and industry, top European enterprises, representatives from ministries and Government agencies. Speeches focused on discussing measures to increase Vietnam’s attraction to foreign investors especially European investors.
The forum comes on the heels of EuroCham’s recent release of the first trade issues and recommendation book. This book gives recommendation for the development of 13 key sectors, produced with the assistance from Asia- Invest Program, an EU initiative to enhance business cooperation between EU member countries and Asia.
